Being Used by God, Tip #1: It's all about love - Monday Morning Devotion

God uses us because He loves us.

David writes, in Psalm 57, "For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies."

This is where it all needs to start, knowing that God loves you.

He loves you so much that He sent Jesus to die for you in order to mend the relationship that had been broken in the Garden of Eden.

He loves all of us so much that He does not want any to be lost or forgotten.

His love reaches to the skies, even for (especially for) the lowest among us.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13, "If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love." (MSG, v. 1-3)

It's all about love. God's love, Jesus' love, and our love.

Our thoughts and actions should reflect Jesus' love to the world, but to do that we must first understand how great the love of our Heavenly Father for us.

Dear Lord, thank you for your great love for me that reaches to the heavens and for your faithfulness that reaches to the skies. Thank you for your amazing grace and for the way you graciously use weak human beings. Help me to remember this love you have for me and to reflect it back into the world. In Jesus' name, Amen.

My heart, O God, is steadfast,
    my heart is steadfast;
    I will sing and make music.
Awake, my soul!
    Awake, harp and lyre!
    I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth. (Psalm 57:7-11)
