Being Used by God, Tip #5: Listen to God - Monday Morning Devotion

To be used by God, we must know God. We must understand, as much as is humanly possible, his desires for all mankind, and we learn these things through the Bible. We must listen to the lessons He has taught us.

The people of God often got themselves into trouble because they did not listen to God. Listening to God is key to being used by Him. It's a lesson many of us find very hard to learn, but even Jesus says, "I can't do a solitary thing on my own: I listen, then I decide." (v. 30)

As we ask God to show us his work, in which we can take part, it's important that we stop and listen. Praying for guidance and wisdom means nothing if we don't take the time to meditate on God's Word and listen when He answers.

Dear Lord, thank you that when I hear your word and believe, I receive eternal life and cross over from death to life. Help me daily to listen to your voice by reading your Word and through prayer with you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
