Some mention a great power in the sky from which their people descend. Others attribute the creation of all things to him, along with qualities of goodness, wisdom, and perfection. God, the creator of the universe and father of all humankind, speaks to each of us in our heart language. He knows how to reach and touch each of His children. So it only stands to reason that God has been speaking to Native American hearts. This is the very essence of the Gospel… God loves, accepts and reaches out to us where we are, as we are. His Son is His gift, freely given. All we do is receive this gift. It’s that simple. While we do have roots in the denomination, we are an independent, non-affiliated organization. We are “Lutheran” due to the alignment of our mission with Martin Luther’s central teaching—that salvation is attained through faith in Christ alone and not deeds. * Do you only work with Lutherans? No. We work with all Christian denominations and sects as well as other faiths and secular organizations in the fulfillment of various aspects of our mission and purpose. * Are there any Native Americans on your staff? Yes, we are Native led and primarily Native staffed. This is central to our mission. While many non-Native Americans clearly understand Native issues, only those who have lived with these issues are able to address them with authenticity and authority. * Do you make Native Americans give up their heritage to become a Christian? No. We ourselves are deeply proud of our heritage as First Nations people. We believe God created Native Americans in His image. That we are His people. His chosen. His beloved. That God loves us and has a purpose and plan for our lives. And that all of this comes as a result of faith in Christ alone.
