Read: Matthew 5:14-16, 2 Timothy 2:15, 1 Peter 3:13-17
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
2 Timothy 2:15
15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
1 Peter 3:13-17
13Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” 15But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Reflect:
Now that you have the light of Christ in you, it would be wrong to hide it from the world. Do not be ashamed, but be ready to give the answer to others, with a clear conscience, should they ask about your joy, never fearing what others might say. In what parts of your life are you hiding your light? What talents do you have that could be used to the glory of God?
