This is our privilege to share with people on the Navajo reservation, this is our rock-solid promise built on the very blood of Christ.  Our sins have been paid for, we have received a quadruple comfort. 

I often wonder how people can make it through a world broken by sin and death without Jesus.

But we do have Jesus. The true light of the world.

Jesus continues to bless children of all ages through the Water and the Spirit. 

This Christmas, as we celebrate Jesus' birth, let us remember that without His birth we could never have been reborn into His family.

I recognize many in our world did not receive this gift, and this is particularly true among our Native brothers and sisters.  They had earthly fathers who were cruel, absent, abusive, unloving, and self-centered.

It is a beautiful thing to see our Native cultures express and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in their own colorful and majestic ways.

In Jesus, and by faith, we find life and are able to overcome.

Last December, I dreaded the Christmas season. I could feel the pressure and the expectation of consumerism that has come to pervade and redefine the season.  The desire to hide from the season crossed my mind.

It is, in fact, because Jesus conquered death, sin, and the devil that we will draw the breath of eternal life.  What a birthing that will be! 

Our ruined sinful condition could not stop the more powerful force of God’s love to save us.

Every year, my family and I look to the Pacific Ocean for the “Christmas whales” to arrive to be reminded that Jesus will be back someday.
