A Winter Navajo Update
Dear Friends in Christ,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved— you and your household…. Then immediately he and all his family were baptized.” (Acts 16:31, 33).
What a joy it was on Christmas Eve to not only to celebrate the birth of our Savior but also the new birth, by water and the Word, of a whole household. The father, mother and four children were baptized into the death and resurrection of Christ (Rom. 6:4) and given forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit, and eternal life (Titus 3:5). Christmas does not get much better than that!
It is an extraordinary thing that God uses water and His Word to accomplish so much, and it was no less extraordinary in this family’s experience. Now God is pleased to call them his own dear children, and welcome them into His family.
Prior to Christmas, a few of our confirmation students joined in a service project to deliver food boxes to needy families in Navajo. They put into practice the words of Jesus, “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:34) I have it on good authority that one of the confirmands was an unwilling participant at first but later changed his mind as it turned out to be an enjoyable experience.
- We thank God for this work in calling this family from darkness into his marvelous light! (1 Pet. 2:9b).
- Thank God for the confirmands growth in faith and service.
- Please intercede with us for the people without Christ in our community.
God’s blessings on your year, the Norton Family
