Using Lent as a Mirror - Lent 2020

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Read Psalm 4

Search your hearts and be silent.

This is not a cursory glance to see what we may have done wrong in the last few days, but a self-reflection that goes deep into our very hearts. Often, we make excuses for the sins we deem small or less important (or not as big as the sins of others).

Are you being honest with yourself about what it is you truly need to confess? Because God already knows.

Repentance, however, is two parts: contrition (the guilt and remorse that comes from sinning) and faith. As you search your heart, do not forget forgiveness comes from your faith in the Risen Savior, Jesus Christ.

Continue to rely on the wisdom and truth we find in the Bible, not on the wisdom of the world.

Dig into the Word. Spend time in prayer. Listen to what God has to say.
