We All Have Stories (Advent) - Wednesday, December 13
During this time of year, we recall the greatest story of all and the greatest life ever lived. It is Jesus, our Savior, who came into our sin-darkened world to give us eternal life and forgiveness. It is through Him and in Him that our story has meaning. Let us honor Him with our thanks and praise this season of Advent. Let us honor him with the stories we leave behind.
Cherokee Legend (Advent) - Tuesday, December 5
If we could see everything with our natural eyes, we wouldn’t call it faith. Faith is knowing, believing, and trusting in the promises that God has bestowed upon us according to His precious Word.
What's in a Name?
"Some people are like lakes. They change very little as they age. Some people are like rivers. When you trace the Mississippi, or any other river at its source, it can be very small. Later on, it can be wide and strong. When it meets the ocean, it spreads out." In other words, names should change as the individual changes.
There's Love in the Glove
wipe the sweat off your brow, step into that nice, air-conditioned store, and help provide love to the Native people of the Olympic Peninsula in the shape of a glove.
Small Projects Reach the Hearts and Souls of Native People
When Tom and Cathy plowed up a thorny back yard so that a tribal elder could grow vegetables; tribal leaders built a community garden so that others could enjoy the benefits of fresh vegetables for their families.
When they gathered a group of volunteers to fill in potholes around elders’ homes; the tribal council began to better maintain their roads.
After they helped to plan drumming circles and dance groups; tribal groups started to teach the youth about their lost culture.
The Growth of Nations
Your commitment to Lutheran Indian Ministries reaches far beyond the stories you see on our website or in these newsletters.
Everything in God's Hands: Holy Wednesday, April 12
Dear Jesus, forgive us when we try to face life on our terms without seeking your perfect will for us first. Teach me to be more like you. You did not look back and regret the course of your life but instead looked forward to the completion ofyour task. You trusted God’s will would be done and that all would work for the good of all people by the week’s end. Help me also to trust God’s plan for my life. In your name, Amen.
We Will Overcome: Second Sunday in Lent, March 12
Heavenly Father, thank you for being the life giver and for always caring for me in every situation. Help me to show your compassion and love to those I come in contact with daily. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Christmas Joy and Thanks - Christmas on the Lower Elwha Reservation
It is amazing the way God can work in a person's life. We never know what a small, simple act of love can do to make a huge difference.
If you gave a gift or prayed for Lutheran Indian Ministries last year, you made this possible, and we want to you know how much we appreciate you. We are so grateful for your generosity and passion.
Silent Hero: December 14
Heavenly Father, I thank You for always loving us, and I pray that you would continue to send heroes for our Native nations. I pray that our nation will never turn away from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
