Lutheran Indian Ministries Staff Prays for Potential Candidates for Ministry

During our staff retreat in January, Don, along with Lutheran Indian Ministries staff, gathered to pray for four Native Americans who have expressed a desire to serve in church work as deacon, deaconess or pastor. New potential candidates for ministry Jan 2014Bob Prue (Sioux) was introduced to Lutheran Indian Ministries through Will (Sioux) and Patricia (Cree) Main in 2011. Bob has since completed two pre-requisite courses and desires to enroll in the Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology (EIIT) Program leading to ordination through Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.   Cai Luna (Navajo) is a recent graduate of Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS, and remains active in our Haskell Light Campus Ministry, working part-time. Cai hopes to enroll in an education program in the Lutheran church to serve as deaconess.

David Lee (Navajo) has worked alongside his mother, Louise Lee, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Navajo, NM, helping with activities until a church leader could be called to continue ministry to their people. This past September, Tim Norton was commissioned and installed to serve the congregation and is mentoring David in preparation for church leadership.

Zak Greene (Makah) attends Makah Lutheran Church in Neah Bay, WA, where Winston Wilson (Cowlitz) serves as vicar and music director. Zak visits the local jail weekly with Winston where they lead a Bible study and minister to the needs of those attending.

Thank you for your prayers and support so that Lutheran Indian Ministries can fulfill its mission to identify, recruit, equip and empower Native people to become spiritual leaders among their own people.
