Restoring Communication (Lent Devotion) - Tuesday, March 26
Miigwetch (Ojibwe), Pilamaya (Lakota), Ahéheeʼ (Navajo), Thank you, Father, for hearing Jesus’ loud voice before his death as our substitute. Continue to hear his intercessions for us as He sits at your right side. Holy Spirit, touch the hearts of those to whom we communicate your truth of restoration. In the Name of our High Priest, Jesus, Amen.
Death is the Enemy (Lent Devotion) - Monday, March 25
Adonai Yahweh, thank you for calling me to faith in Jesus who gives me life. Drown the old nature in me daily that a new person would rise to live with you, in innocence and blessedness. Amen.
Faith in Times of Discomfort (Lent Devotion) - Saturday & Sunday, March 23 & 24
If we are never tested, how can we realize how strong we are in Christ? We don't seek out suffering, but when it shows up on our doorstep we can see it for what it is - future hope and a chance to put our faith in Jesus.
Comfort Promised (Lent Devotion) - Friday, March 22
Dear God, today and throughout this Lent Season, help me to be mindful and thankful for the provision of comfort we receive through Your Son, Jesus. Thank you that You are there to comfort us when life is hard and painful. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Weeping for the Lost & Broken (Lent Devotion) - Thursday, March 21
Dear Father of all people, hear our prayers and bring the broken and lost to you. May they experience your forgiveness and healing power. Do not let the enemy of their souls capture them back into darkness. In the name of Jesus, our Prince of Peace, Amen.
Go with the Wind (Lent Devotion) - Wednesday, March 20
Lord Jesus, help me to rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance. Help me speak the truth and bring my struggles before you. Lord Jesus, help me to walk with the wind so my burdens may be light! In Jesus' name, Amen!
Blessed be the Name of the Lord (Lent Devotion) - Tuesday, March 19
Dear Creator God, when disaster happens, I ask that your Spirit would move me to redouble my trust in you and be assured of your love and mercy. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Testing Standards (Lent Devotion) - Monday, March 18
O Lord, thank you for testing our hearts and minds, in order that we may have a genuine faith in your forgiving love through grace, that is in Jesus. Amen.
Using Lent as a Mirror (Lent Devotion) - Saturday & Sunday, March 16 & 17
Search your hearts and be silent.
This is not a cursory glance to see what we may have done wrong in the last few days, but a self-reflection that goes deep into our very hearts. Often, we make excuses for the sins we deem small or less important (or not as big as the sins of others).
Are you being honest with yourself about what it is you truly need to confess? Because God already knows.
Repentance, however, is two parts: contrition (the guilt and remorse that comes from sinning) and faith. As you search your heart, do not forget forgiveness comes from your faith in the Risen Savior, Jesus Christ.
Fishers of Native Men
For more than 20 years, your gifts have provided the congregation of Makah Lutheran Church and the community of Neah Bay with Christian leadership. Your continued support today, with a gift to Lutheran Indian Ministries, helps to continue that legacy and provides Ben with the kind of encouragement he needs to keep going when his busy schedule seems overwhelming.
