I Have Overcome the World (Lent) - Palm Sunday, March 25
Sometimes the evil one seems to be exploiting every human weakness. Evil seems to be manifest everywhere in our world. But there is Good News!
The power of the world controlled by Satan was defeated when Jesus accepted His Father’s will to go to the cross. He defeated sin and death, but He had to pay a horrible price. It was not an easy walk Jesus took from the gates of Jerusalem to the cross.
He Paid a Debt (Lent) - Saturday, March 3
I had a cellmate who saw me. His name was Aaron, and, for several months, I despised him. He was always speaking to me about this white man named Jesus. Just the name made me angry. He would tell me Jesus loved me and wanted to give me this free gift of Salvation. I told him over and over again that this heavenly father of his would never give me any free gift.
Within a few months, much to my relief, Aaron was transferred out of my cell. My mind could finally rest. But, it didn’t. I kept returning to his words. Soon, Aaron was transferred back into my room. In our time apart, my heart was softened toward him, and I welcomed his words, words I had hungered for.
Miracle in a Child (Advent) - Friday, December 15
I am a chief sinner who does not deserve anything but wrath and death. But in His mercy, God gave me life through Jesus and life through this gift of a child. I am grateful!
As we look to the birth of a baby, a baby named Immanuel, let’s give Him thanks and praise.
Trials (Advent) - Friday, December 8
As we learn to trust God and His Word in the midst of our trials, we will grow in our faith. May God give us a teachable heart so that we, too, may praise Him.
Mission Incomplete
What if Jesus had not completed His mission?
What if Jesus had said, “This is trouble. I’m going to be beaten and die. I should just turn back and forget about this, for my own well-being.”
Praise God that nothing was going to stop Jesus from fulfilling His mission.

See, I am doing a new thing - Haskell
For Lutheran Indian Ministries staff member Bob Prue (Rosebud Sioux), and his wife Deon, this is a year of fresh starts and new beginnings. In June, Bob became LIM’s Ministry Leader at the Haskell LIGHT House in Lawrence, Kansas. We are excited that God has led Bob to accept the challenges of this important ministry opportunity! And in July, Bob and Deon became parents to their 3rd child (and first girl), Marlee Grace. Praise God!
A Summer Transition at Haskell LIGHT Campus Ministry
Bob announced. "This is new for us, and we are going where the Lord leads us. We're open to all the help we can get!"
Jumping into the Pool
"The Hawaiian concept of Ho'oponopono resonates so well with the Beauty for Ashes program. We just each need to find that concept in our own ministry sites and tailor it to fit our own people while keeping our focus on the Jesus." - Clarence
God-Sized Hole: Holy Thursday, April 13
Father, thank you for sending your Son so that our thirst can be forever quenched. Jesus, thank you for giving your body and blood that we may have a relationship with you. Please help us to identify the things in our own lives that we are putting above you, and help us to share your love with others who are in need of your rest, peace, identity, meaning, purpose, and lasting contentment to their awe-craving heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
