Standing Room Only in Worship at Haskell LIGHT

With the new semester just beginning at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, Rev. Will Main (Dakota Sioux), director of Haskell LIGHT Campus Ministry, and his wife, Patricia (Cree), prepared for Sunday worship just as they have done for the past 10 years. What they weren’t prepared for these past two Sundays, however, was a standing-room-only crowd of some 30 students in attendance.

“Apparently, God is not confined to a construction schedule,” Will shares. “Despite our cramped quarters in our current building, God is blessing our efforts to serve and be here for our young Native men and women.”

Construction on the new Haskell LIGHT facility has been delayed until the new windows arrive. Consequently, the dedication ceremony, originally scheduled for Nov. 15, is postponed. A new date is being planned and will be announced in the near future.

In the meantime, as Will stated, ministry continues in full swing. Students are eager to learn God’s Word as they seek His will for their lives.

“We’re sincerely grateful that we’re here to serve,” says Will.
